Spirituality and Business, Tale Of Two Deserted Bestfriends

The host of The Balls Of Steel Show, Sarthak Varshney gets in conversation with Abhishek Goyal of Kashish Yoga who entails his tribulations in spirituality, through spirituality and for spirituality to become a fuller entrepreneur and a fulfilled human being.
WHAT BUSINESS ARE YOU RUNNING BECAUSE OF WHICH WE CAN SAY THAT YOU HAVE BALLS OF STEEL?
The business with which I can say that I have Balls of Steel is a Yoga training platform. The name of our company is Kashish Yoga, and we provide Yoga teacher training courses. Kashish Yoga falls under the health and wellness industry, with a special emphasis on spirituality.
First of all, people learn and master Yoga practices, and then they become proficient enough to teach others. Our platform also helps people to pursue Yoga later in life.
AT WHICH GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATIONS ARE YOU PROVIDING YOUR SERVICES?
There is no specific location that we are primarily catering to, and our market is the entire world. We are providing our services globally and anyone can make use of it. We proudly market our product in the entire world.
MOVING AHEAD IN THE CONVERSATION CAN WE KNOW ABOUT YOUR ENTREPRENEURIAL JOURNEY ON THE BALLS OF STEEL?
To begin with, after school, I was perplexed about my college because of two reasons. Firstly, I didn’t know what to do with my life, and secondly, I was very eager to join the business. So, I had started a travel company, which was a great experience. Since my father wanted to help me out, so he supported me financially. I can say that I was satisfied, but I faced a few problems.
The biggest of all was managing human resource. One of the most important things is to shape human resource according to the purpose of your company. I realized that I needed to learn more before diving into any business, so I stopped my company and opted for an MBA. My aim of starting my own business was apparent for the expertise I was pursuing an MBA. I didn’t want to go for a job at any point and never sat for the placement.
After graduating from the Business School I began to look for business ideas. I’ve always loved selling services rather than tangible products therefore, I dived into travel again.
Once I had a conversation with my elder brother, he expressed his intention to expand, and the idea touched me. I am a sincere follower and propagator of spirituality. When he approached me with this idea, I felt I achieved my inner goal, and things fell in place.
ABHISHEK CAN YOU TELL US WHAT EXACTLY DO YOU DO AT KASHISH YOGA?
At Kashish Yoga, I am the Marketing and the Sales head. I contribute to product development and all the communications. As a part of marketing, I am pretty much involved in a lot of things. The social media and offline marketing, promotions and designing. So, it sums up at least 80% of the work and the support of my team.
THROUGH THIS CONVERSATION WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO THE ENTREPRENEURS WHO TRY TO BE THE ONE-MAN ARMY FOR THEIR COMPANIES?
Suppose you’re playing Cricket, you cannot bat and bowl at the same time by yourself. You will require a team for that. Also, in life, you can not always do everything all by yourself.
It is good to learn everything, and an entrepreneur should know everything, but being a one-person army is very wrong. This is because you cannot be an expert in everything. If you’re an entrepreneur, the most important thing for you is to recruit the right people for the right job and manage everything beautifully. This way you’ll be able you find sync between everything and be a BOSS.”
CAN YOU SHARE THE SOURCE OF YOUR MOTIVATION WITH BALLS OF STEEL SHOW?
According to me, life is not about career, a stable profession, it is about a greater mission which attaches meaning to life. At least, something that influences people’s lives in one thing or the other.
My motivation is one simple thing of leaving an imprint on another person’s life. My mission is to positively enhance those lives that I come across in a day. The same idea was behind my travel company. My idea was not to give them luxuries but to give an experience worth remembering. The source of motivation should be kept above the personal affliction, which distinguishes entrepreneurs from the crowd.
ONE OF THE MOST INTERESTING PARTS OF THE CONVERSATION IS ASK ARE YOU MONEY MINDED AS AN ENTREPRENEUR ABHISHEK?
I am honestly not a money-minded person, but I’ll have to confess that I am an emotional buyer. I don’t have many expenses of my own. Whenever I see something made with a lot of emotion, I buy it without.
Not being money minded can be both a bad and a good thing. Talking in a producer’s capacity, I am not money-minded, but if I see talent worth acquiring, I acquire that talent, money then doesn’t matter then.
TAKING THE CONVERSATION AHEAD ABHISHEK PLEASE TELL US WHAT IS THE BIGGEST FAILURE THAT YOU HAVE FACED?
In my opinion, your entrepreneurial journey starts the day you decide that you want to become an entrepreneur. You don’t become an entrepreneur the day you achieve something because you’re already are one. Once you think about it, your journey immediately starts.
In my journey, there are multiple failures that I have seen. For instance, when I started, I couldn’t get into the college that I wanted. After college, when I started looking for ideas to start something, I didn’t get through. I had 5 to 6 projects in mind but couldn’t start them, and I didn’t have money for those projects.
I had to go back to the travel business because you don’t need that amount of capital to start off and secondly, I didn’t have anything else to start with. At Kashish Yoga too, we faced some obstacles.
Through the means of The Balls of Steel Show, I would want to pass this on to young entrepreneurs who tend to give up. I don’t see my failures as failures but obstacles. They are nothing but smoked screens of vagueness. You can’t make out the path at first, but the haze lifts a clear path becomes visible. The question is whether you are a successful entrepreneur or an entrepreneur? What distinguishes your perception.
ABHISHEK HOW DO YOU MANAGE A SITUATION WHEN YOU ARE IN A FINANCIAL CRUNCH AND YOU NEED MONEY FOR YOUR BUSINESS?
I have amazing friends to help me out in such situations (laughs). We need to appreciate and thank the people in our lives. There people who care about you, who love you and who are always around you. Whatever you do in life, don’t think that you’ve achieved it alone.
It is a combined effort of everyone that has been supporting you in the backseat. However, I have had many crunches, but I’ve never stopped since I had the support of all these people.
Apart from that, I guess you need to ask yourself some basic questions. Why do you need money? Do you need money for marketing? If you don’t have money what would you invest, you need to earn sufficiently first. If you need money for leisure, don’t take it will increase your liability and expense.
Don’t use your credit card, or you will be stuck the loan cycle and repayment of the loan. this will divert your attention from the bigger purpose. A quote that changed me as a consumer was ‘if you cannot buy it twice don’t buy it.
THROUGH THIS CONVERSATION CAN YOU TELL US ABHISHEK WHAT IS THE BIGGEST RISK THAT YOU HAVE TAKEN IN YOUR BUSINESS?
I call myself a risk-taker, so I have taken many risks up till now. However, when I was quitting my role from the involved operating partner, I wondered what if I leave this company, will it be the right decision to make? What would be the future of this company? All these thoughts surrounded me.
On the other hand, I had started another thing (business) in my hometown, which was going well. I also had the option to move to Delhi and start a new office with many new people from scratch. It (giving up operation partnership) was the riskiest call for me, to be honest, I took less than 5 seconds to come to that.
I have always been a risk-taker but what motivated me to take this risk was my mission. My mission was making spirituality available to a larger audience. So that was the whole idea, whenever I believe in something, or I want it I go-ahead for it. Instead of making myself comfortable, I burn the bridge where I feel my comfort zone is extending. That gives me the motivation to go on and achieve more.
WHAT IS YOUR BUSINESS MANTRA ABHISHEK THAT YOU WANT TO SHARE IN THIS CONVERSATION?
I cannot particularly call it a business mantra, but through the platform of the Balls of Steel Show, I would suggest something. It’s just a thought which states anything that you want to achieve is not outside, but it’s within. If you are winning a war outside and you think that you have won, it’s sheer stupidity. If you win yourself from within then you win.
The whole idea is about you achieving your daily targets and you think that you are successful, but it is incomplete. You’ve won today, you might win tomorrow but the same trend might not continue.
However, on the contrary, if you win on the inside, if you master yourself, you can master every aspect of your life. So please focus on your personal development only then you would be able to master your business.
By self-growth I mean pay attention to your habits, routine, focus and your mental health. It is very important for you to not lose your mind in the race of becoming an entrepreneur. I have seen many people going crazy in the process to the extent that they stop enjoying what they do. So, what’s the point of achieving things?
You need to balance it out and need to have a beautiful routine that you follow every day and which helps to conquer your inner self. If you continue with meditation for like a month and then observe your focus you’ll be surprised.
Well, this conversation was one of its kind, we thank Abhishek to give us his perception of running a business in which he can find himself.
