We began with it in 2015. My partner and I were working with a similar company back then. We found a significant gap in the cleaning industry where there was no professional approach towards cleaning. People hired inexperienced labour to clean their homes and offices. At that instant, we decided to dive into this arena, says Sabyasachi Satapathy, founder, Favorz Services India Pvt Ltd.
Before handing over new offices to their owners, they require deep cleaning. Favorz provides cleaning service to residences, corporates and institutions. We realised if we would send trained and verified professionals with suitable equipment, why wouldn’t people prefer a deep cleaning service.
The specialisation of Favorz lies in pre-handover projects, and you can call it our niche. So, we tie up with architects and interior designing companies, and whenever their projects are on the verge of completion, we come into the picture. We have worked with some of the most prominent players like Kia motors and Google too. On average, we get 10-12 pre-handover projects every month, apart from residences and corporates’ everyday cleaning.
One aspect that makes us different from the others is our specialisation in pre-handling of the project. It is because we are well aware of the nuances of the architect’s interior. Keeping the intricacies of cleaning in mind, we structure the whole process differently for every project. Another factor that we all remain cautious about is timely delivery. According to the time of delivery, we schedule our complete process and manage our team. With both these distinguishing factors, accompanied by our workforce and the chemical we use, we have created a niche for ourselves.
As we started, we initially recruited people based on references and approached industry experts. Further, we trained a few freshers and gave them an understanding of the equipment. During the training, we sent our freshers to the site and explained how are things done there and gave them a list of dos and don’ts. We moulded the freshers to gain a better insight into Favorz and the industry it operates in.
However, they say that not every day is a bright day. Similarly, we’ve also had our share of ups and downs. One such incident was when along with the cleaning business, we also ventured into the facility business. We tried recruiting human resources, staff for housekeeping and pantry boys. Our company took up a cinema hall, where our team took care and managed the complete facility. Unfortunately, the cinema hall wasn’t paying us on time. They even took six months to pay while they were still availing our services. Every month, the workforce’s salary went out of our pocket, whereas we didn’t receive any payment.
A similar situation arose with another institution. We realised that we received a setback whenever we entered facility management and diverted from our core business. It was not only that we lost money, but also our time and energy.
Favorz has bootstrapped itself since the beginning. I believe the only way you can expand the organisation’s size is through reinvesting the money it has earned. You can also call reinvestment our core value since that is how we have been going about things.
Even though 2020 has been a tough year for businesses, May 2020 was the biggest month for Favorz. My business was booming then. There are very few brands that can franchise themselves across the nation. We are delighted that Favorz has travelled that milestone of getting five franchises working with us till now. Now we have offices in Gurugram, Mumbai, Andaman and Nicobar, Jammu and Hyderabad. So, we can say that pandemic was a blessing in disguise for us. Our next aim is to get 50-60 pre-handover projects per month PAN India by October 2021.
On similar lines, I can classify myself as a business-minded person rather than money minded. So, my topmost priority is my consumer. I am highly customer-focused since I give back more than what I receive from them. I believe that is the way entrepreneurs are, and their priority is customer satisfaction. That is one of the primary reasons for Favorz being a pan-Indian brand.
“I believe that giving more to get more” is what Sabyasachi Satapathy, founder of Favorz Services India Pvt Ltd, recommended to young aspiring entrepreneurs. Sabyasachi believes that hard work with a sense of taking smart decisions can take you to places. With his progressive Dhandho Ni Soch, Sabyasachi has sustained and scaled his business by completely bootstrapping it, not comprising the core values he has epitomised through his business so far.
